    Are you curious, analytical, and passionate about making a meaningful impact in healthcare finance? Toyon Associates, Inc. is seeking an Entry-Level Business Analyst to join our growing team in Knoxville, Tennessee. This is a unique opportunity to launch your career with the industry leader in healthcare reimbursement consulting.

    As a Business Analyst, you will receive comprehensive training and mentorship designed to develop you into a trusted consultant. You will work closely with our experienced team to support hospitals and healthcare systems across the U.S. in navigating complex Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement regulations.

    What You’ll Do

    In your first two years, you will gain hands-on experience with key areas of healthcare reimbursement, including but not limited to:

    • Medicare Cost Reports

    • Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) Reporting

    • Wage Index Analysis

    • Bad Debt Reimbursement

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Learning government reporting and compliance requirements

    • Validating and analyzing detailed financial and statistical data

    • Preparing impact analyses to support internal consultants and client decisions

    • Identifying and investigating data anomalies in large datasets

    • Supporting multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a business, finance, accounting, economics, or math-related field

    • GPA of 3.0 or higher

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Attention to detail and accuracy in data work

    • Effective communicator (written and verbal)

    • Proficiency in Excel and basic data tools (Business Intelligence tools a plus)

    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

    • Eligibility to work in the U.S. (we do not offer sponsorship at this time)

    • Ability to pass a background check

    • Flexibility to work additional hours during seasonal deadlines

    About the Role

    Are you passionate about making a difference in healthcare finance? At Toyon Associates, we partner with hospitals and healthcare systems across the U.S. to help them navigate the complex landscape of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. As a Consultant on our team, your expertise will be critical in helping providers remain compliant with government regulations, optimize their reimbursement, and ultimately strengthen their ability to serve their communities.

    What You’ll Do

    In this role, you’ll apply your expertise to address the challenges faced by hospitals and healthcare organizations. As a Consultant at Toyon Associates, you will:

    • Assist clients with key areas of Medicare, Medicaid, and other governmental reimbursement:

      • Prepare and/or review Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and various other required governmental filings

      • Provide subject matter expertise on compliance requirements and government reporting standards related to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement

      • Support multiple service lines by contributing to projects across the spectrum of healthcare reimbursement

      • Conduct in-depth analyses of hospital financial and statistical data

      • Prepare impact analyses to support client decision-making and internal consulting efforts

      • Manage and prioritize multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment

    Required Qualifications

    • 5+ years of professional experience in Medicare and/or Medicaid reimbursement at a hospital/health system, Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC), or consulting

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, or a related field

    • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

    • High attention to detail and accuracy in working with complex data

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Proficiency in Excel and basic data analysis tools (experience with business intelligence tools is a plus)

    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively

    • Eligibility to work in the U.S. (we do not offer sponsorship at this time)

    • Ability to pass a background check

    • Flexibility to work additional hours during seasonal deadlines

    Location

    This position is U.S. - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at a Toyon office in California or Tennessee or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.

    Compensation

    Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay and title is dependent upon several factors including location, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The pay range for these positions is $92,000 - $172,200.
