What You Will Do
We are hiring a Technical Lead to work with a group of developers on our hospital finance SaaS applications. These applications break down complex hospital reimbursement processes into simple actions for the end-user. Your design and code will have a direct impact on helping hospitals across the country.
As Technical Lead, you’ll be organizing and directing a team of 2-3 developers in a technical capacity. You’ll be working with product owners to gather requirements and use cases. From these, you’ll design the software with an object-oriented approach. You’ll relate the design to other developers in the team via UML diagrams and documentation, encouraging collaboration in the process. You’ll coach up the other developers and review their code. Though a lead, you will still be connected to code and actively contribute to the code base where needed.
Toyon has offices in northern and southern California, with the development team based in Concord, CA. While we like to meet in person once a week, this position can also be fully remote. We put an emphasis on work/life balance; we work to get the job done rather than putting in hours. Toyon has a solid customer base that is still growing in a niche market and has strong and supportive leadership.
Whom We are Looking for
We are looking for people who are excited to make a positive impact through technology, are eager to learn, are knowledge-sharers, and approach their work and others with humility.
You’ll have at least 5 years’ experience as an engineer, but we are more interested in what you have done. We’d love to hear about projects you have worked on and the challenges and successes involved.
Mentoring and knowledge transfer are important for the role. Clear and frequent communication (both written and via video calls) and a desire to see improvement in others are key. Interest in growing towards the management path at Toyon is a plus.
Ability to pass background check and eligible to work in the US (work visa sponsorship not available).
