CMS Transmittal – No Pay Medicare Advantage Claim Filing
This is an urgent, time sensitive notification.
On May 5, 2010 CMS issued a transmittal notifying non–teaching hospitals that they must submit informational (no pay) bills for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries that were treated in FY2007 (10/1/06 – 9/30/07) and FY2008 (10/1/07 – 9/30/08).
CMS believes that many providers have failed to comply with previous requests to submit these informational claims for Medicare Advantage days. This is a final request. Providers failing to submit the required claims and attestation that all claims have been filed may be subject to having their SSI ratio set to 0.
The effective implementation date of this notice is June 17, 2010. Hospitals have until August 31, 2010 to submit their claims to be in compliance. You are required to file an attestation with your FI/MAC by September 15, 2010 that you had no Medicare Advantage claims, or that all Medicare Advantage informational claims have been filed.
